Esta adenalítica y espectacular canción de Manic Street Preachers le mete un buen repaso a la pasividad y el “mirar hacia otro lado” de la sociedad occidental desde el punto de vista de alguien que sabe que eso por lo que lucha es la nada…pero es “su nada”. Otra mente torturada más del mundillo musical que por si no fuera poco decidió desaparecer para siempre el 1 de febrero de 1995, apenas 5 meses después de la publicación de este álbum. Hablamos del aún desaparecido Rickey James Edwards, al que por cierto se le declaró oficialmente fallecido en noviembre de 2008.
En esta canción, “Ifwhiteamericatoldthetruthforonedayit’sworldwouldfallapart” tampoco pudo olvidar meter su propia dosis de crítica a la política sobre Cuba. El nombre, que en el propio disco se escribe así, todo junto, es una frase célebre de Lenny Bruce, un cómico y crítico social americano con la lengua muy afilada.
El tema se encuentra dentro del que para muchos es una obra clave de los 90 y el mejor disco de Manic Street Preachers, “The Holy Bible”, el último antes de su sofisticación con “Everything must go” y su posterior megapelotazo con “This is my truth, tell me yours”, como decíamos el álbum final con la formación original de la banda y probablamente uno de los LP’s más “encabronados” de la década. Fundamental.
